Plastic Pollution: Ways We Can Help

Between 4 and 12 million tons of plastic enter the ocean each year, a figure which is projected to triple in the next 20 years.

Pollution from plastic enters even the most remote areas of the world, with many sea mammals and birds consuming a considerable amount of plastic in their lifetimes.

Only about 9% of plastics are recycled worldwide, a truly astonishing number.

Ways To Help

  1. Reduce use of everyday plastics - use a non-disposable water bottle, purchase re-usable bags for shopping, re-use in any way possible!
  2. Recycle- an individual can have a considerable impact over a long period of time
  3. Clean up beaches, rivers, wherever there is garbage and waste - even just one person can truly make a difference by cleaning our environment
  4. Avoid products with polyethylene and polypropylene
-These ingredients, used by some cosmetic products contain tiny plastic particles that                     enter the ocean through sewer systems and affect many marine species
